My entire journey has been a falling away of everything that does not resonate with love. Of course this is understanding that I have to love myself in order to align with that truth. We all "think" that we are that person that our parents., society, teachers etc. etc. made us feel we are in order to get love and acceptance. This was "learned" by showing us how we must act/be in order to receive love and attention from them. This set the stage for the rest of our lives and we believed the story that we have to be and act a certain way in order to receive love. But, you see, that is not truly who we are, that is the story that keeps playing/looping over and over in us consciously or subconsciously. We are already LOVE. So all of our lives we have been living under a falsified story that we have to get love from an external force instead of going within and digging deep to know that we ARE love.
I am now going through a new growth spurt as all of this has emerged into my awareness. A new pathway of love has opened up for me that showed me I was totally out of balance and not aligned with self-love. He mirrored this back to me and showed me what was holding me back. That is what a true soul mate does! A beautiful quote by Melissa Gilbert says just that. "People think a soul mate is your perfect fit, and that is what everyone wants. But a true soul mate is a mirror, the person who shows you everything that is holding you back. the person who brings you to your own attention so you can change your life." When we are willing to dig deep and do the work then we can get ourself back into balance and align ourselves with self-love.
We all feel we need someone to make us complete, or NEED to be in a relationship because once again, that is what we are taught by songs, movies, and or people wondering why you are single, as if single is a bad thing. It is perfectly fine to be in a relationship but we need to cherish it and not be so depenedent on it as far as love goes. I came across the most perfect quote by Osho that put this all into perspective and made my heart smile as I know it is a solid truth and it goes like this: "If you love a flower, don't pick it up. Because if you pick it up it dies and ceases to be what you love. So if you love a flower, let it be. Love is not about possession. Love is about appreciation." ~ Osho
Such a profound quote and lesson for all of us. When we are in a relationship we think we have possession of that person and want to control them. Like they are ours, but that is not how love works. Love is not to be owned/caged but meant to flow. To flow freely from one heart to another with complete appreciation for what it is in each moment. To adore everything about them just the way they are and not trying to take ownership of them. If you are holding on too tightly to someone you love because you are in fear of losing them then you are in resistance to not only love, but yourself. The Universe will step in and help you out and take care of it for you by taking it away from you. It will do this to show you that without this love/relationship/person you are still and infinite being of love. You do not"NEED" love to show you that you already "ARE" love. This can be a painful lesson but one that will give you infinite freedom and open the door back up to love. Stay OUT of fear and IN love because love always flows the path of least resistance. Appreciate the love you share and know that loving someone completely starts with loving yourself completely first. Blessings!
