Once upon a time at the edge of an enchanted forest there lived the most fairest hare/rabbit of them all. He was surrounded by all the earthly possessions that a rabbit could want and need. In fact, he had more than most. He had the finest fortress in all the land. His garden was envied by all the towns-rabbits and the huge carrots it produced. He even had underground rabbit homes too all over the town, he owned more property than any other rabbit around and he was revered by many. His life was filled with wonderful "things" as he hopped throughout all the land and relished in his fruitfulness for all his hard work.
Life was good and all was well until one night he decided to look upon all he had acquired with a deep sense of accomplishment. He hopped all around his properties that went deep into the forest and smiled to himself as he took another hop, and down came the trap door set by an outsider? The rabbit had been caught, caged and confined to a small, dark place/existence. It would be here that the truth would be revealed to the finest/wealthiest hare in all the land.
Within the dark confines of this imprisonment the rabbit would spend the dark night desperately trying to get out of the space/trap that he had walked himself into. It would be a night of torture and suffering as he came face to face with his own fears of the darkness AND the light/truth. For hours he tried to escape but would just hit a wall as he would twist and turn only to hit another wall. He was getting weak and tired of fighting and knew that he was facing his ultimate demise sooner or later within this space.
He started thinking about his life and all he had surrounding him that made him happy. He soon realized that all he had was not bringing him "true" happiness because he had nobody to share his prosperous life with. You see, the hare never married or had children, not many friends because other rabbits didn't see the real him only the superficial one he projected into all the land. It wasn't that there wasn't any depth to him because there was. He had given the towns-rabbit many riches and lots of his time because he wanted to please others so much. Most just took advantage of his kind nature and saw him as weak. The problem was, he forgot to consider himself and what he truly wanted, maybe he didn't know , or maybe he was afraid? Now it was to late, by morning he would be gone! There was no way out of the cruel imprisonment of that dark night.
As each hour passed the more emotional torture the rabbit put himself thru. He blamed others for his unhappiness because he didn't want to think that he had brought this empty existence upon himself. All of his young rabbit-hood wounds surfaced as he thought about all who had hurt him in the past. Everything seemed to surface within him, his fears, guilt, shame as he dropped into the deepest depressive state that a rabbit could reach. The anxiety and fears of his demise grew more intense with each passing moment. He would fall asleep from exhaustion, only to wake up and go thru it all over again and again. This was pure torture and he was growing weaker and wearier.
He realized that within this darkness that not only had others hurt him but he had hurt others too. He kept trying to escape but each time he would hit a wall and break down in tears and exhaustion. He knew before he left this earthly plane that he would have to make peace with others and HIMSELF. He knew he would not survive and that he had to "let go" of everything, he was no longer in control!
He started feeling the stirrings of something that he had never felt before. What was this, he asked himself? He stated to feel compassion for others as he released them for what he perceived as "wrong doings." He started to "feel" compassion for himself as he also learned to forgive and love himself. He wanted to make things right and tell others how he felt, but it was too late. What he was feeling was the stirrings of his own heart that he spent his whole life trying to avoid. He felt LOVE pulsating through every fiber of his being for the first time. He had done it, he had let go of his image, he had taken off his mask and awoken to the light/truth of who he really was underneath all that hair. He collapsed once again and fell asleep in exhaustion.
When he awoke he saw that it was daybreak and he was still alive. He opened one eye only to see his own eye staring back at him. He jumped up to see that one of the walls he had been butting up against all night was a mirror. He looked into the mirror and saw that he was not a rabbit after all he was a beautiful swan. How could that be, he asked himself? All of his life he had been told that he was a rabbit. He had never seen his own reflection before until now! How could he have missed that? Just when he said that the trap just seemed to dissolve. He was free! The sky was bluer than he remembered and the forest was lush and green, it seemed mystical, magical. His heart was filled with so much love and appreciation for all there was. He had a second chance at life. A chance to "feel" live, love, and experience this magical world he found himself in. He laid down and sobbed, but this time, with an open heart full of deep love coursing through his veins. He was more alive than ever! He was finally free from the dark confines of this mental torture/imprisonment!
This is what happens when we go thru the "Dark Night of the Soul." We are forced to go within and look at all the shadow aspects of SELF. We are forced to face our fears and let go of anything that is no longer serving us. We become the great alchemist as the darkness illuminates the TRUTH about who we REALLY are. We awaken spiritually to our own true nature and become liberated from all the inner trappings of life and our mind (all the conditioning, programming and manipulation.) What we go thru is the death of the "ego." The ego does not want to let go, it wants to be in control of everything and control every outcome. It even tries to control the outcome of the egoic death but it cannot hang on. The "ego" itself is not bad, it thinks it is trying to keep you safe. The one thing the ego does not have precedence over though is the heart, is LOVE. Love is the most powerful force in the Universe and will always trump fear.
The "Dark Night of the Soul" is not to be feared as it serves as an opportunity to illuminate the light within us. An opportunity to expand so that we can live our lives as our true selves. We are eternal beings that came here to evolve and go under-cover so-to-speak as a human and find the God-light/self within. We are not our mistakes or what happened to us. We are not humans, we are having a "human experience." We are divine sparks of our creator, eternal beings and at the core of who we are is LOVE. Love is "what" we are. To step into that truth is a beautiful experience as it liberates our soul so we are free to live the life we came here to live. So, the darkness serves it's purpose and it is not to be looked upon as "bad." How would we know what we want or don't want if we do not see or experience the opposite/polarity?
We are all mirroring back to one another our strengths and weaknesses. What offends you about another person may be an aspect in yourself that you do not like. We all can be catalyst for each other's spiritual growth by being that mirror. Some have a personal mirror just for them that they chose before their incarnation. Looking into that mirror will be the hardest thing you will go thru, but it's rewards are gifts. You can take your power back and find your joy, peace. It is a chance, an opportunity to create meaning from this experience and to reflect on what isn't working for you. You have a chance to design what you want from this space...clarity...knowing. You must be open to expansion by keeping your hearts open and trusting the Divine. What may seem like a cruel entrapment at first really is your own soul ready to wake up to it's true nature. All it asks is that you surrender your mind/ego and live openly from your heart. Much love and light to ALL!

Although each and everyone of us on planet Earth today will go thru "The Dark Night of the Soul" if we choose to stay, this blog was inspired by the first and second wave of Divine Masculines re-connecting with their heart. Sending out so much love as they awaken at this time.
